if you are at ''~/data/foo/horrible/dir/names'' and want to go to ''~/data/bar/horrible/dir/names'', just do:

% cd foo bar
% pwd
~/data/bar/horrible/dir/names

What's even better is that ''cd foo [TAB]'' will complete with bar!!
